Asia Medical Forum - The
Lancet
Singapore, 3-4 May 2006
CADI SCIENTIFIC participated in the Asia Medical Forum - The Lancet 2006. This event was held at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Ballroom 1 & 2 from 3 May to 4 May 2006.
During this event, the focus was on "Preparing for the next influenza pandemic". Even though we do not know when the pandemic will occur, emergence of the H5N1 virus suggest that the possibility might be in the near future. The devastating results of such a pandemic outbreak will be high human death rate, economic downturn as well as other adverse effects.
The Lancet event mainly focus on how global leaders as well as healthcare professionals can prepare their countries against such an outbreak. Opinions were exchanged between official delegations from the
Asia Pacific region, policy makers, scientists, researchers, immunologists, clinical and public health specialists in infectious diseases, public health workers and administrators, healthcare executives and planners, family physicians, front line clinicians and industry representatives.
In this event, CADI exhibited her integrated wireless sensing system whereby wireless monitoring of vital signs, location tracking and most importantly proximity contact tracing can be done. With wireless monitoring ability, this system can reduce unnecessary contact between healthcare providers as well as patients in the event of a pandemic outbreak. We received
positive response from the delegates especially the hospital administrators. They are definitely in
favor of implementing such a system in their hospitals.
