SmartSense-800 Auto-ADT (Admission/Discharge/Transfer) Module

Description

This automated admission-discharge-transfer module is used to automatically update bed status information, send admit/discharge/transfer (ADT) messages, and send operational triggers to various personnel and other existing hospital information systems in the hospital without human intervention. All triggers are activated based on patients' physical location. Hospital users can now have an up-to-date overview of their patients' current location, accurate bed information, patient's ADT status, etc.

·           Save nurses’ time
·           Tremendously reduce phone calls between wards and BMU for bed allocation
·           More accurate actual admit / discharge time
·           Translates to faster bed available time, and thus additional revenue potential
·         Improves visibility of patient’s / housekeeper’s location
·         Allows hospital workflow to be carried out more efficiently
·         Significant step towards digital hospital

Usage Scenario

All in-patients will be tagged with a SmartTAG-800™ sensor around their wrist using a wristband. The sensor with its unique ID will automatically transmit the patient's location information to the central server.

When the patient is admitted to the ward, transferred to another ward or discharged from the ward, the sensor will send a wireless alert to the central server to perform an auto admission, auto transfer or auto discharge. Nurses do not have to manually perform the above tasks anymore. Concurrently, when the patient is discharged, an auto alert will be sent to the housekeeping to inform them to clean the bed and to the bed management unit (BMU) to inform them that the next available bed will be ready soon. This helps to reduce the phone calls between the wards and BMU for bed allocation. At the same time, by de-registering the sensor (by pressing the de-registering button on the switch) during patient’s discharge, the bill can be configured to be automatically printed out too.
