How does the Ear Scan work?

The ear scan measures the infrared heat emitted from the tympanic membrane (eardrum) and surrounding tissues.  The measured value is mathematically adjusted to give a displayed temperature value that approximates the oral temperature. As with any type of infrared thermometer, the displayed temperature is not necessarily the same as the oral temperature measured at the same time.
NOTE: The thermometer does not send out any infrared signal.

How does the Forehead Scan work?

The forehead scan measures the infrared heat emitted form the temporal artery that is situated on the forehead. The measured value is mathematically adjusted to give a displayed temperature value that approximates the oral temperature. As with any type of infrared thermometer, the displayed temperature is not necessarily the same as the oral temperature measured at the same time.
NOTE: The thermometer does not send out any infrared signal.

Are there any situations whereby CADI T560 should not be used?

There are certain situations when temperature should not be taken at the ear. These include, but not limited to, the following situations:
•    For a person who has deformity in the face/ear such that the thermometer probe cannot be properly inserted into the ear canal.
•    Blood or drainage is found in the ear canal.
•    Take temperature from the other ear if ear drops or medications have been placed in a ear.
•    For a person who wears ear plug or hearing aid, remove the device and wait for 15 minutes before taking temperature.

What is normal body temperature?

Normal body temperature varies from person to person, typically ranging from 34.7°C to 38.0°C (94.5°F to 100.4°F).  Measurement at different body sites may give different readings. A person's oral temperature could be 36.9°C (98.4°F) whereas his/her axillary (underarm) temperature could be 36.4°C (97.5°F). Therefore, temperature readings taken from different sites, even at the same time, should not be directly compared. Temperature taken from the same site at different times would also vary. It is advisable to take the temperature of your healthy self and record it for future reference.

How do I know if I am having a fever?

Fever is described as an elevation of body temperature over a person's normal body temperature. When your temperature exceeds your normal temperature, you are likely to have fever.
NOTE: When in doubt, always consult your physician.

My child is having a fever. What should I do?

1. Monitor your child’s behaviour and other symptoms. If your child looks drowsy and irritable, consult your doctor urgently. 2. Measure your child’s temperature at regular intervals to monitor the temperature. This information may be meaningful to your doctor. 3. Give fever medication as directed by your doctor.
NOTE: The above advices are not intended to be a substitution to consulting your physician.

Why is the temperature taken at the ear appears to be too high or too low?

The ear mode and forehead mode of CADI T560 is calibrated according to the respective measurement site. Temperature must be taken at the right site with the right mode to get the correct temperature reading. For ear mode, users have to remove the probe cover first.
When a person has his/her ear covered, has just exercised, bathed, eat or swum, or has been exposed to extreme temperature, his/her ear temperature may be affected. In these cases, remove the person from the situation and wait 15 minutes before taking temperature.  In addition, to take accurate readings, the ear must be free from excess ear wax buildup.

Why is the temperature taken at my forehead appears to be too high or too low?

At the forehead, CADI T560 measures the infrared heat generated from the forehead skin surface over the temporal artery.

To measure temperature from the forehead, attach the forehead probe cover. Make sure the probe is flushed against the forehead skin and not at an angle, as shown in the pictures on the right. If the probe is placed at the wrong angle against the forehead skin, the temperature reading will be affected by the surrounding temperature, thus higher or lower than the correct body temperature. Make sure that the forehead is free from sweat and oil too. Otherwise the temperature readings will be affected.
